Phil Rowe will give a practical demonstration of resistance soldering and its uses in model railways mainly linked to gauge 1 loco construction.

Radio control of model railways - Dave Evans & Ian Payne

Ian Payne and David Evans talking about and showing the advantages of radio control of model railways, with Ian concentrating on the larger scales and David on 00 gauge locos.

The Association of Shrewsbury Railway Modellers was formed over 25 years ago and currently has around 30 members.  We meet on a monthly basis for illustrated talks on a variety of prototypical and model railway related subjects, including demonstration and “show you how” evenings led by members and well-known modelling experts.

Members’ interests cover all the model railway scales, from Z gauge through to gauge 1 and G scale.  As a group we pride ourselves on being friendly and try to offer help and encouragement to beginners to railway modelling and “old hands” alike.  The Association also has close links with other local clubs such as the Platform 3 Model Railway Society and the local Gauge 0 Guild Group.

We meet on the first Wednesday of every month, except August, in Room T1 of The Priory School, Longden Road, Shrewsbury.  Meetings generally start at 7.00pm for an initial chat and cup of tea or coffee before the meeting proper at around 7.15pm.

If you enjoy talking about railways and railway modelling, or want to learn more about how to go about it, then join us at one of our meetings and see what the Association is all about.
