DIORAMA CHALLENGE - 3rd April 2019

Members dioramas presented for the meeting.

Last Wednesday’s meeting was the Association’s AGM at the conclusion of which was the outcome of the Diorama Challenge. This originated from a talk given by our Member Andrew Vaughan when he very ably demonstrated how his etched brass kits could be painted and used. To demonstrate the point he built on the evening of his talk a Diorama to give a setting for his kits. From this there developed the idea for a Diorama Challenge for Members generally. This was fully supported and promoted by our Secretary, Nick Coppin with the result that 14 Members rose to the challenge and submitted an entry; the entry from Howard Mainwaring even includes a ‘history’ of the development of his diorama which you can take as fact or fiction.

Based on the success of this challenge, Nick has already emailed everyone and thanked them for their efforts and is already looking for ideas for the next challenge. Please give it some thought as the Diorama Meeting last week was one of the Association’s best nights.

As a postscript I would like to express my appreciation and no doubt Members would join me in thanking very sincerely Sam Ryan for photographing and cataloguing the entries in the Diorama Challenge. Photographs of the entries do so much more than words to illustrate the quality of the exhibits.
